KADENZE ANNOUNCES NEW ACADEMIC PARTNERSHIPS AND NEW CLASSES FOR CREDIT
Academic partnerships with Pratt Institute, Ringling College of Art and Design, Paris College of Art, and School of the Art Institute of Chicago bring five new courses available for college credit to Kadenze.
VALENCIA, CA – October 27, 2015 – Kadenze announces three new academic partnerships. Pratt Institute, Ringling College of Art and Design, and Paris College of Art join seventeen of the world’s best academic institutions currently offering courses on Kadenze.
“We are honored to have Pratt, Ringling, and Paris College of Art join the Kadenze revolution,” says Ajay Kapur (President and CEO of Kadenze). “They are top schools helping to diversify the Kadenze catalog by bringing film, fashion, and museum pedagogy into play.”
Pratt’s “Contemporary Museum Education,” Ringling’s “Visual Storytelling” and “Introduction to Motion Design”, Paris College of Art’s “60 Years of Fashion History”, and School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s “Making Meaning” bring the current number of courses available for college credit on Kadenze up to sixteen.
“Our plan and promise has always been to be THE place for online arts and arts technology education, from all disciplines. Adding courses on Design, Museum Pedagogy, Fashion History, Film, and more, show our commitment to that promise, “ says Perry R. Cook (Co-founder and Executive Vice President of Kadenze.)
Once launched, course lecture videos and discussion forums for the new offerings will be available to students all over the world at zero cost with a free Kadenze membership. Students who are interested in a more hands-on experience can sign-up for Kadenze Premium Membership (a $7/month subscription service) and receive a Kadenze verified Certificate of Accomplishment upon completion of the course. Students who would like to receive college credit for their efforts can do so for only $300 per credit unit (an unprecedented low for official credit courses offered online).
With these five new courses, the total number of courses available for enrollment on Kadenze is now 29, making it the largest collection of art, design, and technology MOOCS available anywhere on the internet. In early September, Ajay Kapur spoke about the importance of MOOCs for arts education at “Learning With MOOCs II” at Columbia University:
“When college costs $200,000, the arts will no longer be a part of college without MOOCs.”
Kadenze looks forward to offering these five new courses as a part of their mission to make an education in the arts and creative technologies both accessible and affordable to students all over the world.
