Industry leaders at companies like Sonos, iZotope, and Smule join forces on digital masterclass from Real Industry

Valencia, CA – January 19th, 2016 – Today, Kadenze is proud to launch “Inside the Music & Video Tech Industry”. This course is the first offering from Silicon Valley based non-profit, Real Industry, to launch on Kadenze and the fourth course on the platform to focus on the professional side of creative technology.

“‘Inside the Music & Video Tech Industry’ takes [students] behind the scenes to learn about hardware engineering, marketing, research & development, intellectual property & legal contracts, product & industrial design, and the recruiting/hiring process,” says Jay LeBoeuf, course instructor and Real Industry CEO.

LeBoeuf knows what students need to succeed in Silicon Valley first hand. He has spent his career working with leading creative tech companies such as iZotope and Avid. As an instructor, he brings fifteen years of industry experience as well as almost eight years of teaching experience, working as a lecturer at institutions like Stanford University. LeBoeuf created Real Industry in 2014 to help students bridge the gap between university education and professional life.

“[Students] need the knowledge of how companies actually work,” says Leboeuf. “It’s clear when students apply for jobs, when they struggle in finding a job or position they love, when they experience stress during the first few years in industry. It’s not the student’s fault. How can they possibly know how industry works, without actually working in industry? We want this course to solve that exact problem.”

“Inside the Music & Video Tech Industry” is not the first course on Kadenze to focus on the professional side of creativity. In June, Kadenze launched “Careers in Media Technology” (for which Leboeuf was also the instructor) as well as “Project Management for Designers”. Just a few months later, Kadenze opened “Introducing Entrepreneurship for Musicians”, and in December they began an ongoing partnership with Real Industry.
