KADENZE LAUNCHES “INTRODUCING ENTREPRENEURSHIP FOR MUSICIANS” IN PARTNERSHIP WITH FROST SCHOOL OF MUSIC

Course represents a continued commitment to artistic professional development

Valencia, CA – September 1st, 2015 – Today, Kadenze launches “Introducing Entrepreneurship for Musicians.” This course (offered at Frost School of music since 2003) is the first course on Kadenze.com that was built and shot by a partner institution. It joins currently available and popular courses from Stanford and Emily Carr University on Kadenze as some of the first online professional development courses that are specifically designed around the need of artists.

Reynaldo Sanchez, the course instructor and professor of music at the Frost School of Music, created the course to help musicians repurpose their creative minds towards the challenges of running a business.

“This is the course I never had and needed most as a music student,” says Sanchez. “There is a great need for business/entrepreneurship education for young (and not so young) people that earnestly want to make a living in the field they love most – music.”

This sentiment is echoed by Stanford Professor Jay LeBoeuf in his Kadenze course, “Careers in Media Technology.”

“There is a huge chasm between academia and industry,” says LeBoeuf. “My Primary goal is to help students land amazing jobs. I try to connect the dots between a student’s interests and their future career, but these goals require that students actually understand how companies really work.”

Students taking “Introducing Entrepreneurship for Musicians” will learn practical skills to help them organize their personal creative practices in terms of business philosophies. Course topics range from goal assessment and business planning to finance management, personal branding, marketing, and royalties management. All interested students will have complete access to the course lecture materials as well as the classroom forums as they become available. Premium Kadenze Members will also be able to submit assignments and receive feedback on their work.

“Many of the attributes musicians already have,” says Perry Cook ( Co-founder of Kadenze) “Like creativity, the ability to perform under pressure, dedication, drive, and the ability to see things through are shared by successful entrepreneurs. This course complements the existing Kadenze catalog quite well, adding practical and applicable skill to help our students succeed in both an academic setting and a professional one. ”

The initial course run will run for five weeks with lecture videos released weekly. Interested students are encouraged to sign up on www.kadenze.com. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter via: @kadenzeOfficial.
