New course features interviews with industry leaders at companies like Sonos, Pandora, and Smule

Valencia, CA – December 11th, 2015 – Kadenze is proud to announce a new partnership with Silicon Valley non-profit, Real Industry. This educational powerhouse aims to connect students who are interested in a career in the media tech industry with the resources they need to get started.

“The ways in which media and technology companies actually work are often hidden from public view,” says Jordan Hochenbaum, VP of Engineering and VP of Operations at Kadenze. “But it’s something that is so important for any artist or technologist learning their craft to understand. That’s why we’re so thrilled to expand our catalog with this new offering from Real Industry, which gives the Kadenze community a direct line into the inner workings of some of the biggest names in the business.”

Real Industry; Jay LeBoeuf“We try to connect the dots between a student’s interests and their future career,” says Jay LeBouef, Executive Director at Real Industry. “But this goal requires that students actually understand how companies really work.”

Real Industry will be helping students connect these dots on Kadenze starting in 2016. The first Real Industry course to launch will be, “Inside the Music and Video Tech Industry”. This upcoming course takes an unprecedented look behind the scenes of some of today’s top media tech companies. Students can expect to learn via lecture videos as well as industry interviews and ‘Ask Me Anything’ style forum discussions. These “digital master classes” are designed to provide students with a primary source education, making each class a unique experience.

“There is nothing more powerful than learning directly from experts,” says LeBouef. “Kadenze provides a platform that allows our industry mentors to support students on discussion forums, comment on assignments, and reach out via video conference to so many more students than they could have reached otherwise.”

Topics covered in “Inside the Music and Video Tech Industry” include research and development, marketing, hardware engineering, product and industrial design, and the hiring/interview process.

Real Industry "Careers in Media Technology"LeBouef himself is no stranger to online education. LeBouef’s “Careers in Media Technology”, launched on Kadenze in June. Since then, it has become one of Kadenze’s most popular courses, attracting students from all over the world. Weekly video conferences and forum events continue to make this course a community driven experience that engages students far beyond the content of the lecture videos.

Interested students can watch the lecture videos and participate in forum discussions for “Inside the Music and Video Tech Industry” free of charge. Students looking to delve deeper can participate in collaborative projects, do assignments, and receive feedback on submitted work by signing  up for the course as a Kadenze Premium Member (a $7/month subscription based service). Upon the successful completion of this course, premium members will receive a verified Certificate of Accomplishment from Kadenze as proof of their efforts.
